Hallmarking

Our hallmark of finesse

This prestigious institution, now one of four assay offices in the UK, is where the practice of hallmarking began more than 700 years ago. Its job is to independently assay (test) precious metals and then stamp them to certify their metallurgical content.

The Hallmarking Act 1973 states that all sterling silver jewellery weighing over 7.78g must be hallmarked to show it meets legal standards of purity.

Although much of our jewellery collection weighs less than 7.78g, each and every piece is still hallmarked with the 925 stamp of finesse.

While hallmarking is possibly the oldest form of consumer protection you’ll find, we also have a modern day promise to give you a full refund if you’re not completely over the moon with your ALEXI London Ltd jewellery
